The Alexander Charter

Six commitments we put in writing

A removals firm is only as good as its word. These are the standards we hold ourselves to on every move — the reason households come back to us, and send us their neighbours.

A survey before a figure

We look at the move properly before we quote it. No estimate is offered on guesswork, and nothing is added later that was not discussed with you first.

Written scope, plainly put

What is included, what is optional, and what could change the figure — all set down in writing you can actually read, not buried in conditions.

Our own hands on your belongings

Directly employed, uniformed crews carry out your move. We do not hand your home to an anonymous subcontractor and hope for the best.

Everything accounted for

A full inventory is taken at collection and checked again at delivery, so what leaves one home is what arrives at the next.

One name to call

A single coordinator owns your move from first survey to final placement — the same person, start to finish, wherever in Europe you are heading.

Straight answers on timing

We give you an honest estimated window for your route and keep you informed as it firms up — rather than a promise we already know we cannot keep.

Given as our standing word to every household we move. — Alexander Removals

How a move runs

Five stages, one coordinator, no surprises

  1. 01

    The survey

We look at what is moving and where — in person or by video — and listen to what matters most to you about the move.

  2. 02

    The written scope

You receive a clear, itemised quotation setting out the handling standard, the route and everything included.

  3. 03

    Packing & collection

Our crews arrive prepared, protect your belongings to the agreed standard, and inventory everything as it loads.

  4. 04

    Transport & customs

Your load travels its planned corridor while we handle documentation and clearance behind the scenes.

  5. 05

    Delivery & placement

Everything is checked against the inventory and set down where it belongs in your new home.

In our customers' words

Households we have already moved

Representative reviews from Alexander Removals customers.

We moved from a terrace in Bristol to an apartment outside Zurich, and I dreaded the customs side of it. Alexander just… handled it. Papers explained, crates labelled, one person who always answered the phone. It was the calmest big thing we have ever done.
The Hartley family Bristol → Switzerland
My mother's piano and a wall of framed prints were the whole worry. The crew who came to survey actually knew how to talk about them. They built crates to fit. Everything arrived in Gothenburg exactly as it left.
Elin R. Leeds → Sweden
Third move with them, second one abroad. You get used to a firm that does what it says. No inflated quote, no mystery charges at the end, the same coordinator I had last time. That is rarer than it should be.

Questions answered

The things people ask us first

Straight answers, before you commit to anything. If yours is not here, the full list covers more — or simply ask us directly.

How does a move with Alexander Removals begin?

It begins with a survey. Tell us where you are moving from and to, and roughly what is coming with you, and a move coordinator will arrange a proper look at the property — in person or by video, whichever suits. From that we prepare a written scope and a clear, itemised quotation, so there are no surprises later.

Which European countries do you move households to?

We relocate UK households right across Europe. We hold dedicated route knowledge for Ireland, Germany, Switzerland and Sweden, and we regularly move families to France, Spain, Portugal, the Netherlands and beyond. If your destination is not listed, ask — the network almost certainly covers it.

What does the written quotation actually include?

Your quotation sets out the handling standard, the packing and protection included, the transport arrangement, and anything specialist your inventory calls for. It describes what is covered and what could affect the final figure, rather than hiding conditions in small print. Where a customs inventory is needed, that is prepared with you.

How long will my move take to reach the destination?

Transit time depends on the route, the customs clearance involved, and how your load is scheduled with other moves heading the same way. Rather than quote a figure we cannot promise, your written quotation includes an estimated window for your specific move, and your coordinator keeps you updated as it firms up.

Do you pack for us, or do we pack ourselves?

Both are possible — it is the difference between our Essentials and Full-Managed standards. On Essentials you pack and we carry; on Full-Managed our crews pack, protect, transport and place everything for you. Fine and antique pieces are crated to a bespoke specification whichever standard you choose.

Ready to move with a firm that keeps its word?

Tell us where you are heading. A move coordinator will arrange your survey and prepare a clear, written quotation — no obligation, no pressure.
